Uplifting perspective on 2012 from Seth Godin

This is one of the most uplifting and inspiring perspectives on our future. Seth Godin is a marketing guru and this clip it is spot on for the current situation in Europe and especially Romania.

  1. As usual, he is funny and very insightful. This video remember me about one recent post on his blog:
“One option is to struggle to be heard whenever you’re in the room… Another is to be the sort of person who is missed when you’re not. The first involves making noise. The second involves making a difference.” šŸ™‚

  2. He’s basically saying: “Take a chance. Stop acting like one of the herd-people that are all around you who just follow what they are told.”

The problem with this message is that it is true right now and it was also true 10.000 years ago. During human history, people who took chances and usually did something more with their lives than the average folks.

As long as human nature influences our behavior as people, the most people out there(probably around 95%, some studies I’ve read pointed to this number) will be followers. Will do what’s conventional and tested. They will keep doing what worked or what is rumored to have worked in the past.

And about 5% will be the leaders and not the followers.

  3. Same ideas as in Funky Business, but it’s not a systemic solution for sure, it is always for the top 1-5%. A system needs to exists though (for example to redistribute some of the wealth to the remaining 99%), otherwise anarchy and war will prevail IMHO…
